Today I want to share some of the blogs, tips, patterns and interesting web sites that I’ve seen this week.
Note: These may include items that I have not, myself, actually made or tried. I will write a post if I do.
Free Patterns:
Organizer Basket Tutorial – This was recently shared on Facebook and I will have this on my To-Do List. Maybe I’ll make one to hold my Rotary Cutter or maybe one to hold my spools of thread.
Add a touch of color to your home with this no-sewing-required basket. I have bought and made several patterns by Terry Atkinson of Terry Atkinson Designs. Here she provides a free pattern with tutorial.
In this tutorial Terry used Bali Pops, but this can also be made using 2-1/2” strips of scraps. Can you imagine this made out of leftovers from a quilt as a nice accent to go along with the quilt?
There is always a need for a zipper pouch and this free pattern and tutorial will produce a cute little pouch to help keep your items together.
Note: This is on Quilter’s Dream Batting’s Blog and includes a give away if you leave a comment on their blog – winner will be chosen 2/26/2014.
Tips –
Accurate 1/4 inch seams are very important to help maintain the correct size of the blocks you make. You can find several articles with helpful tips. This one is on the blog of the American Quilter’s Society – Quilt Views. Even an experienced quilter can use helpful reminders.
How to Pack your Quilt for Shipping (video) – While you may not be shipping your quilt to a quilt show, this video shares some helpful information regarding shipping your quilt. This is another helpful tip by the American Quilter’s Society.
Olympics –
Have you been watching the Olympics? I’ve really enjoyed seeing all the quilt-like banners and clothing. You can read more about the Quilt/Olympics connection here.
Hoffman Fabrics has created a Free Quilt Pattern (available on their web site) entitled Where Bali Met Sochi .
Would you like to create your own Sochi Olympic Quilt? Webfabrics has put together a Kit. I’ve ordered one, but I’m not sure if I will hand piece it or machine piece it.
What has been your favorite event to watch? I’ve liked the Figure Skating and Curling.
Hope that you find this information interesting.
Happy Stitching!
Quilt Mouse
Glad you liked them! I have to admit some of my Olympic viewing has been like a “where’s Waldo” game – seeing who can find the quilt-y object in the event!

These are all wonderful links–thank you! I’ve loved seeing the quilt designs in the Olympics, too, so it’s nice to have your follow-up links. Every time I watched the figure skating, I got distracted by the patterns on the sides of the rink!
