Friday Finds–1/2/2015

Yesterday was the First Friday of the Month which translates – It must be “Stitching for Good Day!”  This was formerly called “Quilting for Good” but this year we’ve expanded to make a number of other items for other Charities, not all of which involve quilting.

So, today, just a quick peek at a few things I’ve found on the Web:

BOM (Block of the Month) –

Ok, I’ve not finished last year’s BOMs but it’s a new year, so we begin another one (or two).  I like BOMs because there is always something to learn.

Pat Sloan – a nationally known Fabric & Quilt Designer and Instructor is offering a 10-Month BOM free.  Offered on Free Quilt Patterns she will have a new block January – September and Finishing Instructions in October.  I like this because my November and December are always too busy.  Her instructions are easy to follow.

Jinny Beyer – Located in Northern Virginia, Jinny travels world-wide to teach, and is known for the fabrics she designs, especially her border prints. She is the author of 12 books and her quilt patterns are so beautiful!

This year Jinny has a BOM on Craftsy which does require you to create a Free User Account (username/password/email), but Jinny’s BOM is a FREE Class.

While on the Craftsy site, you may want to check out the classes and patterns. Many have a cost, but you can find quite a few free patterns and classes.  Once enrolled, you have unlimited/lifetime access to the class videos.

Fat Quarter Shop – 2015 Quilt Along is entitled “Snapshots.”  This BOM is not a mystery.  On the 15th of each month a block will be released.

This year’s Quilt Along is in support of St. Jude’s Research Hospital.  The patterns are free, but it is suggested that you make a donation to St. Jude’s Research Hospital for each pattern you download.  Their goal is $10,000 and Moda and Fat Quarter Shop will match up to $10,000 to make a bigger impact!  I will not be making these blocks, but will follow along and download/donate this year.

Have you found something you want to do?

Happy Stitching!
