Formerly known as “Quilting For Good” our group of stitchers are now known as “Stitching For Good.” Meeting on the First Friday of the Month (during September – June) we still make quilts for charity, but we have expanded to also sew things like pillowcases, placemats, bags and other items for hospitals and non-profit organizations. There are kits available or participants bring their own projects.
Yesterday the room was a buzz of activity.
Several ladies worked on Bead Bags of Courage for children facing serious illness.
See more information about this cause Here.
(Of course, a bit of visiting occurs over the ironing board!)
A couple of ladies worked on pillowcases that will be donated to brighten hospital rooms.
We have some very talented ladies. Frequently we’ll have a show and tell and get to see what other projects are being made. Look at this blue ribbon as well as a special award for her Lace Bobbin work.
Not all work is done at G-Street. Many ladies will bring in quilts, bags, pillowcases, placemats and other items which will be donated to various groups. Here is a Quilt and a Pet Bed.
A Scrappy Rag Quilt.
Thank you to G Street Fabrics, in Rockville, MD, for supporting these charity quilting/sewing days, and to all of the talented ladies that come and spend the day sewing for others.
Quilters are wonderful, caring, creative people. It may ‘only be just’ a bag, a pillowcase or a quilt, but to someone it will be a hug and a touch of love from a stranger. I am so pleased to be part of this group that shares the journey through their many talents.
