UGH! Will winter ever end? I’m guessing this is what is meant by March coming in like a lion. Ice & Snow on 3/1 and Rain followed by Snow on 3/5.
Well at least it is sunny today even though the temperature is in the mid 20’s (F). With the stronger rays of the March sun, there is some melting happening.
Here are some patterns I’ve found on the Internet and will be adding to my To Be Done One Day List.
Mug Carrier Tutorial – Found this on the Kainga Happenings Blog. Bev, from Australia, shares a tutorial for making a cute little travel case for your favorite Mug. While not exactly quilting, this is a scrap buster and a fine way to practice some free motion quilting on a small scale.
I don’t know about you, but when I travel, I really don’t like using the paper cups in the hotel room for my tea. I wonder if I can get one done before my next trip?
Triangle Zipper Pouch – Another Scrap Buster Pattern, plus practice sewing a zipper. I found this on the A Spoonful of Sugar Designs Blog which is written by a mother/daugher team – Lisa & Sarah.
I see this being used for a small sewing kit, a tote for your machine’s pressure feet, or maybe a cute change purse or party favor.
Hot Pad – Another scrap buster project. Delores shares a tutorial for creating a Hot Pad on the Sweet P Quilting & Creations Blog. This would be a cute project to make with leftovers from a table runner or placemats.
While this is a tutorial for a pad to protect your table from hot dishes, it could easily be modified to make smaller coasters/rug mugs. This uses insulated batting. If making coasters/mug rugs, you could just use up some regular batting scraps. And, guess what? No binding is involved!
Well, that’s the projects I’ve seen this week. Hope you’ve been able to get some stitching done this week.
Happy Stitching!
