Gracie’s Get Well Garden Mystery Quilt Challenge is a 7-Week Mystery Quilt Along which is a fund raiser for Project Linus. It costs $15 to register and get access to the Clues. Proceeds benefit the National Organization and can also be designated to your local Chapter.
After the “Great Reveal” on Week #7, there will be a Contest. Beginning October 23rd through January 15th, Completed Quilts can be submitted. Twenty finalists will be chosen and then voted on by viewers. The voting will also be a fund-raiser, and will run from February 1-17, 2017.
This is a fun way to support a wonderful organization that gives Hugs to Kids that need some extra loving!
Tomorrow Clue #6 will be released and the folks on the Facebook Group have been guess what it will be.
Today I’ll show you Clue #5 – 2 Watering Cans will be added to the Garden.
The Garden requires two Watering Cans. This block is paper pieced, but two alternative methods are offered. The video instructions are very good and this block is a good introduction to paper piecing for a beginner.
My testing of blocks for QuiltMaker’s 100 Blocks has given me a lot of practice in paper piecing. So after finishing the two blocks required for the quilt, I experimented with reversing the pattern.
Since this is a Mystery, we do not know how the finished quilt will be laid out. I’ve been playing with my blocks.
We will be given the suggested layout for the quilt. Will it have sashing? Will there be borders? How big will it be? These will not be answered for another week.
The final layout we use is entirely up to us. We can use the suggested layout or we can design our own. To submit the quilt for the contest, we are required to use at least one of each block in our design, but they can be any size.
I guess we’ll have to wait & see.
Happy Stitching!
