Project Linus Mary-Thon Winter Challenge 2017

Today is Day #1 of the Tri 26 Mary Mile Challenge which runs from Nov. 26 to Dec. 26.  The goal is to do at least one mile each day for 26 days.  A few ‘skip’ days are built in for a few ‘days off’ if needed.

Your mile a day can be walking, running, biking, swimming or any other activity – except driving doesn’t count! LOL!! Today is the last day to register.  If you are interested in joining me, Click Here and sign up.  A portion of the registration fee goes to support the work of Project Linus.

I have accepted the Challenge, and will probably be either riding a recumbent exercise bike or walking on the treadmill. This will be part of my commitment to move 30 minutes a day at least 3 days a week.

From January to June I completed 26 weeks of at least 30 minutes a day for at least 3 days a week for what is called a Half-Mary-Thon. A Full Mary-Thon requires moving 30 minutes a day for at least  5 days a week for 26 weeks.

Half Mary-Thon 2017 Jan-Jun Completed

During the Summer we had our first Challenge to complete 26 miles in 26 days. Like the Winter Challenge, it required completing a mile each day for 26 days.

Then in July I began another Half-Mary-Thon of 30 minutes 3 times a week.  Once I complete this 2nd set it will be considered completing an Ultra Half-Mary-Thon.

The Ultra Mary-Thon is almost over.  This has been a great way to ‘Get Moving’ as well as supporting a great charity for children.  This month I went to my doctor’s for my annual check-ups and everyone noticed the changes and asked me how I did it.  I can honestly say participating in this Mary-Thon and the Challenges has made a big difference. I knew each week I was expected to complete 3 days of extra moving activities and that at the end of the week I was responsible for reporting in my progress.

Yup, I think I will do this again in 2018!

Happy Stitching (and Moving)!

  4. Only my needle and my sewing machine have been getting in a mile lately. I’m in a stitching marathon.
