This month I got back into making tops to be displayed at Fabric Cafe’s booth at upcoming Quilt Shows. I got to make two with some very pretty new fabric line. I can’t show them yet. 😦 I’ll post pictures at the grand reveal!
I mentioned in my Blog Post Here that the first finish of the year was a Quillow & matching pillowcases & fleece scarf for one of our daughter’s friends. The sun hasn’t been cooperating, but here are the pictures I promised. Click on an image to view larger picture.
I shared on my post Here about my OMG Finish for January. It felt very good to have that done. I was so successful that I decided to also do one block (actually 2 copies of one block) of the 2017 Project Linus Mystery Quilt Challenge as well as the 2018 . I began that Mystery, but family responsibilities put a stop to my sewing.
Here I’ve made two copies of the Koala Block. The one has Orange borders which had been precut, but the borders to #2 hadn’t been cut yet. I think I got some green fabric to border the blocks on quilt #2. I will have to find that.

I discovered that my backing fabric for the January UFO was too short & thought that I had bought more. So for my January UFO, I’ve been cleaning my Sewing Room looking for the fabric. I’ve concluded it’s not worth looking any more, so will put it on my shopping list the next time I visit WebFabrics in Purcellville, VA.
On January 28th the second hand pieced block was released. I shared the first block of the 9 block Hand Piece-QAL in my last post. I was having so much fun that after I finished one, I decided to make a 2nd. I may go back and make a 2nd of Block 1, too.

I made my HSTs a bit large so I can trim to the correct size. Maybe with practice I will be able to be more exact, but I want this to be fun so no stressing!
I’m pleased with the sewing I’ve done this month. It’s been so long since I did any serious sewing, I’m starting out with small, quick projects. Hoping this is a beginning of a productive year!!
Hope you’ve gotten some sewing done this month!
Lovely block. Thanks for linking up as part of the Hand Pieced QAL!
