This week we began Stage #2A of my sewing room Remodel/Organization. I’ve broken Stage #2 into 3 subgroups so I can still have my ironing/cutting/sewing stations available for use.
My old cutting station was large, but not so sturdy. Also, because it was so big, it ended up with piles cluttering it. The other problem was that it blocked access to my closet which made that storage almost inaccessible.
I didn’t get a “before” picture, but here is all the stuff that was moved from on top & under my old cutting station. It’s piled on a table in my DH’s office. He doesn’t have a class to teach until after Labor Day, so I’ll have a week to sort through it. I will need to move items to new storage, re-home some and trash other items.

Here’s the “After” picture. Stage #2A is just the cutting table in the center. Stages #2B & #2C are the storage space to the right & left.

The old, fold up cutting table is folded at the left side of the new cutting table with my rulers on it. The plan is to use it for my rulers & staging fabric to be cut. Then, when needed, to wheel it out into the middle of the room & set it up giving me a large (clean) surface to pin quilt sandwiches (backing, batting & top) or other projects that need a large space. I was able to also store a 4-foot folding table between the two.
I do have a couple of small projects I need to complete, so I’m thinking alternating some sewing and some sorting. Baby steps will get the everything done.

It’s amazing how much stuff we accumulate over time! I still have ‘sewing stuff’ I’m trying to figure out where it should live since our move to Myrtle Beach in May…baby steps is right 🙂
