Beginning the year trying to be more organized. I will again be participating with APQ’s UFO Challenge and Elm Street Quilt’s OMG.
(OK, for those not in the quilting world – UFO stands for UnFinished Object, and OMG means One Monthly Goal.)
Once again American Patchwork & Quilting is sponsoring their UFO Challenge. #apqresolution This is just a simple project to help crafters – those who quilt/knit/crochet – create a list of 12 (or more) unfinished projects that you will try to work on or complete this year. It is entirely up to you what you want to add to the list. The first of the month a random number is announced and that is the project to work on.
I have one large & one small project listed for each number, plus a handful of other projects that I may work on or substitute. For January the number is 7 – to at least finish the last three blocks, assemble the rows and 1st border of Wishes 2014 Fat Quarter Shop Charity QAL (Quilt Along). The final border is pieced with 2-1/2″ squares. I plan to set these up as Leaders/Enders to use while working on other projects.
Elm Street Quilts Blog is again hosting the One Monthly Goal Challenge. This challenge is another one to help me make progress on the projects in my Sewing Room. No need to make a list, but on the first of the month there is a link-up to share what you hope to accomplish this month. It can be as simple as adding binding to a quilt or as busy as making an entire quilt.

I didn’t get much done for this 2020 Challenge, so I’ve just repeated my list. I have 3 Project Linus Mystery QAL tops that I haven’t finished. Hoping to get them done this year, I have divided the remaining blocks/borders.
So for January 2021, my OMG is to complete an applique block for Project Linus 2018 – Violet’s Bakery. This is the final block for this pattern, but it has a lot of pieces and it is applique (not exactly my favorite activity).

Do you have any tips/tricks that help you keep motivated and moving ahead on your projects? I would love to hear what you do.

Sounds like you have a plan. The only thing I can add is to “schedule time” to work uninterrupted. (No laundry/cooking/cleaning….hahahah). More zoom retreats might help!! I got a lot done yesterday and it looks like you did as well! Working like we did yesterday required me to “plan ahead” the previous day and get things cut & ready to sew. Mary/Stitchinggrandma
