Story of Project Linus 2020 Mystery Quilt – Clue #2

While the contest (read about it here) is in progress, I thought I’d share a bit about the making of my Lucy’s Love Notes Quilt.

Clue #2 ‐ 8 Envelopes – ✉ This was a bit of a challenge, but makes a fun addition to the quilt. They are real pocket envelopes. This one is unique and I really needed the video to help me do it.

Block in progress
Doesn’t really look like an envelope, does it?

This block took a little concentration. With lots of folding and stitching it does become a real pocket/envelope!

To complete the envelopes, it was optional to add an applique heart on the flap when closed. We could add buttons, or other embellishments if we wanted to. I used my embroidery attachment to create these 8 hearts. Check out the top photo to see the open & closed envelopes on the completed quilt.

So after two weeks, we had 4 Heart Units and 8 Envelope Units. Still a mystery how they will go together. That’s the second week done of the Project Linus 2020 Mystery QAL Challenge.

Is it snowing where you are? We have some snow in the forecast so I see sewing in my future.

Happy Stitching!
