Today I’m sharing last week’s progress made on the five current projects in my sewing room. See my post about all my current projects – Click Here. So here’s my second week progress.
Project #1 – Scrap Dance Pachanga/Mystery QAL (Queen Size Quilt)
A new Step is released on the 2nd & 4th Fridays. I started a bit behind, but this past week I was able to catch up. I just have a bit of trimming of the Flying Geese & I’ll be ready for the next Step release this coming Friday. I’m making a queen size, so each clue has lots of pieces.
Project #2 – Quilt of Valor #A-12/Mystery QAL (Large Throw Size Quilt)
The first clue came out last Wednesday. As promised, it didn’t take long to make the required Half Square Triangles (HSTs). Seems like there are HSTs in all of my projects. Guess practice will make perfect. Lol! I’m ready for the 2nd Clue this Wednesday.
Project #3 – Harmony, 2021 Hand Pieced QAL (28″ Square Wall Hanging)
This 28″ Wall Hanging consists of a number of sections. There are 4 identical corner sections plus another 4 identical dividing sections. Last week’s step was to make 4 HSTs which will go into the 4 corner sections. This was another quickie so I jumped ahead & made this week’s blocks which were 4 modified HSTs. I’m hoping to stay ahead as future blocks may take a bit more time.
Project #4 – 9 Patch Rows QAL (Queen Size Quilt)
I had to get working on my Row 3. Struggling over choosing fabric/colors took most of the week. I cut the background fabric so that would be ready, but I kept pulling fabric and changing my mind. I did choose this gold, but needed one more color.
Finally, I went thru my Fat Quarters one more time and this green popped out at me. So Saturday I got to cutting and making the required HSTs, and Sunday the Blocks were made and the row was created. I’m done with this Row & waiting for Friday’s release of Row 4. Maybe I should start looking at fabric in my spare time this week.
Project #5 – 2021 My Hometown BOM (63″ Square Quilt)
Block 1 turned out so great, I’m afraid that I won’t get the same “WOW” out of Block 2. So I’ve spent the week playing with fabric choices. I have the center of the block picked out, but I need to find combinations that will complement it. Where does it need light fabric, where will medium or dark fabric bring it all together? So many things to think about. Good thing this is a Block of the Month (BOM) and I have until the end of the month to complete it. It will definitely take the whole month for me to get it done.
Other Sewing Accomplished –
I didn’t do much miscellaneous sewing. I fidgeted with a new mask pattern. (Still not happy with the way it fits, I need more modifications.) But I did get some more plastic storage boxes & worked on organizing scraps & WIPs/UFOs (Works In Progress & Unfinished Objects).
At the end of the first 7 days of 31 days to an Organized Sewing Space, I’ve done a little bit each day. These 7 days have been doing a bit of cleaning here & there. I’ve cleaned my cutting mat, cleaned fuzzy bunnies from around the bobbin & feed dogs, oiled my machine, and filled bobbins. I had changed my machine needle & rotary blades a couple of weeks ago. So guess what? I found by accessory box for my sewing machine. It’s been on my “Lost Items” list for a while. We’ll find out tomorrow what’s on our organization list to do this week.
I’m pleased with my progress this week.
It’s beginning to look like Winter is leaving us and Spring is about to begin. Temperatures promise to reach into the 60’s & 70’s by the end of the week. I’ll be able to get out and take some pictures of the garden.
Hope you are making progress on whatever you are stitching this week!
Happy Stitching!

Yes, you’ve done a lot. I wish I had more time in my sewing room. I’ve had stuff going on almost every day after work, and that keeps me out of the sewing room. Glad you are getting your’s organized.
