I did a little cutting for my APQ’s UFO Challenge and am pleased to say I exceeded my goal for the One Monthly Goal sponsored by Elm Street Quilt. My plans to work on several UFOs and maybe get back to my Current Projects from earlier in the year was unsuccessful.
(OK, for those not in the quilting world – UFO stands for UnFinished Object, and OMG means One Monthly Goal.)
American Patchwork & Quilting’s UFO Challenge. Participants created a list of 12 (or more) unfinished projects that we hoped to work on or complete this year. The first of the month a random number is announced and that is the project to work on. For August it is Number 10.
My August UFO – 2019 FQS Threadology Quilt Along
For August the number is #10 – to continue working on a Mystery Quilt Along sponsored by Fat Quilt Shop – Threadology 2019 Fat Quarter Shop Charity QAL (Quilt Along). The next step for this project is to create 48 Spool Blocks to add as a border. No actual sewing was done, but I did get pieces cut for a number of blocks.
My August OMG – 2021 Scrap Dance Pachanga
I actually exceeded my One Monthly Goal I posted on Elm Street Quilts Blog‘s link-up. My goal for August was to get the final 9 Block B’s pieced. As a bonus, I hoped to get them pieced together in Rows. I actually got both the throw-size tops sewn together including the borders!!
Formerly expecting to make a queen size quilt, I decided to make two throw sized quilts. Throw #1 & Throw #2 top completed. I ordered Backing and will get these prepped to go to the Long Arm Quilter.
My August Goals – As if I don’t have enough to do
I have so many things partially done, I’m trying to make a list to help me keep on track.
- Completed – Make tops for Fabric Cafe, as needed (Currently working on 3). I’ll share later in another post.
The rest of these will roll over into September –
- Commissioned Quilt – Sandwich & Quilt
- My Hometown – Blocks 4, 5, Corner Blocks
- Hand piece Inner Border for HPQAL-Harmony
- Trim & Add Label & Binding for Autumn Jubilee
- 9 Patch Rows – Get another row done
- Backings needed (either to cut/piece or buy)
Well, I can’t really say I’m sorry to see August end. This has been a rough month and I didn’t spend as much time in my sewing room as I expected. We have a great neighborhood that looks out for each other. Two families have lost loved ones. One was a long-time resident who we’ve known since the early 70’s and sewing took a back seat to helping the family.
