Fall 2021 Current Projects – Ready or Not

Well, today is the day. The first step of the first Quilt Along for Fall 2021 comes out today.

Fat Quarter Shop Fall 2021 Mystery QAL

I’m trying to be more organized this year with my sewing/quilting projects. So in preparation for the four projects I hope to complete, I’ve done some “Project Management.”

First I set up some notebooks/binders to hold each step along the way. I have plastic sheet protectors that I will use to hold the patterns. The three smaller projects I combined into one folder (top/left). I did a portfolio (top/right) for the Project Linus/Oliver’s in the Doghouse Mystery Challenge. It has 12 individual paper sleeves that will be enough to hold the fabric requirements, tips and 9 weeks of clues. I’ve followed Carole’s Autumn Jubilee for several years. This 3-ring notebook (bottom) holds sheet protectors for all the steps for the 2020 Autumn Jubilee and will also hold them for this year’s.

I’ve been collecting fabric for this Fall’s Current Projects. Some has been pulled from my stash and I (forced myself) bought some basic background and/or border fabrics for a couple of the projects. Autumn Jubilee uses existing scraps, so I have to wait a bit to find out what fabric I will use.

As part of my 2021 Organization and my Fall Project Management, I pulled out 4 plastic storages boxes which are about 12″ x 12″ and have successfully held fabrics needed for other projects.

Well, I think I’m ready. Fat Quarter Shop’s All the Trimmings Mystery QAL starts today and it will be the only one for two weeks so I should be able to keep up.

Hoping to get a lot of stitching done this week. Have a good week.

Happy Stitching!

  1. I save my instructions in a similar way. I usually download to my computer into folders and I also print them out. I learned to do that with Bonnie Hunter mystery quilts. The boxes for the project are great as they will hold a 12″ block nicely. I have a tote full of my “Autumn Jubilee” fabrics and small parts. One year I took it to every quilt bee, and because I had lots of squares ready to sew, it made it easy to build more blocks.
