I got some good feedback concerning my unfinished table runner. Thank you for all the comments. Sometimes you just need a fresh pair of eyes. So I decided it’s time to quit fussing with it and get it finished. Just Do It!!
I know I overthink things and then get frustrated if it doesn’t click. I love the colors/combination, but my mind just went blank when trying to determine the final border. I didn’t even think about using red, but Carole suggested it to go with the leaves. So I pulled out several from my stash and found this scrap of dark red/almost burgundy. The table runner finishes 18″ x 43″ & I think I will have enough of the red for binding.
So next time I dig through my stash, I’ll find some backing and this will be a finish. (Soon, I hope!) As actually quilting on my domestic sewing machine is another stumbling block, I will “just do it” with some simple outline or shadow stitching.
Other Activities in My Sewing Room
Daughter got a new phone (and I got her hand-me-down). She came to me this weekend and asked if I could make her something. She got a case & all the accessories, but wanted something to keep dust off it. So we designed a case lining with a flap to cover the phone while it is in the case.
I used a scrap of purple batik (daughter likes 💜 purple). I like the fact that is is the same on both sides. We measured & stitched, finally we had a finished product that satisfied us. She has requested another for when she just slides the phone into a pocket wanting to protect it from accidental scratches & pocket fuzz.
While looking through my fabric, I pulled out this 3-yard bundle I had bought from Fabric Cafe a while back. Then I went through the 3-yard bundle patterns I have. I think I’ll make a quick quilt top.
I will have some time in a few weeks that I can work on it. So in the meantime, I will get the pieces cut and will work on it later.
I didn’t get as much done in my sewing room as I had hoped this weekend. Some computer work required my attention and another project that I can’t share yet took up my time.
This is the beginning of a new week. Hope you get to sew something.
Red was a good choice.
