It’s a new year and I’m trying to get organized and back on schedule. Blogging is fun, but takes time from my sewing, so to begin the year I will try to blog a weekly summary.
Organization Plan –
I’ve discovered I like to muilti-task. Which is somewhat of a good thing because I have a variety of projects in progress.
I am going to try and organize my week by assigning each day a category to work on.
Monday | UFO | Unfinished Objects |
Tuesday | QOV | Quilt of Valor |
Wednesday | OMG | One Monthly Goal |
Thursday | Stitching | Hand Stitching Group |
Friday | Binding | Focus on adding Bindings |
Saturday | QAL | Quilt Alongs |
Sunday | Catchup | Free choice |
UFO & QOV January Project – Quilt of Valor – Long May She Wave Mystery QAL (Large Throw Size Quilt)
This Mystery started in October & required 3 sets of Flying Geese and I fell behind. Then the holidays arrived which drew my attention to other activities & projects. So I’m hoping working on it 2 days a week I will make good progress.
OMG January Project – Project Linus 2022 Mystery QAL
This Mystery started last September and I managed to keep up for 2 weeks, but October got busy and I got behind. The clues were issued weekly, so I’m hoping to get at least 1 week’s clue done a month by dedicating my Wednesdays to work on it.
Week 3 was to make 3 appliqued blocks . I’m pleased to say on my 1st Wednesday I got them done and started cutting for Week 4’s three blocks.

Thursday Stitching & Friday Binding –
I was hit with a light case of vertigo this week so no driving and only short spans of easy stitching between naps was required. Earlier in the week I trimmed a queen size quilt, made the binding and clipped it onto the quilt, but I didn’t feel like fighting the heavy quilt on my domestic machine.
I did substitute 2 small projects. I made a simple sleeve for my computer to protect it from scratches.
The 2nd small project was actually a quickie Quilt Along – 12 Days of Christmas which started 12/26/2022. The blocks were small & very quick to make. On Friday the top was completed, and I cut the batting & backing and pin basted it. It’s ready to do some quick quilting & binding. (The background came out too yellow in the picture. It really is a very light cream)
Other Sewing Accomplished –
Fabric Cafe Tops:
I received a text this week that I’ll have two tops to make for Fabric Cafe, so not sure how much progress will be made on my other projects.
Miscellaneous –
I did spend most of my New Year’s Day in my sewing room. First I cleaned my sewing table & machine, then oiled it and installed a new needle. Then I washed my cutting mat and moved the blade from my rotary cutter to a cutter I use to cut paper & cardboard. A new blade was put into my rotary cutter.
The rest of the time was organizing my January projects & working on small sewing projects.
The first week of January was gorgeous with temperatures in the 60’s for several days.
Hope you are making progress on whatever you are stitching this week!
Happy Stitching!

Looks like you are getting lots done. I’m guessing that the QOV/UFO is from Alycia’s group.
