Sorry to have been out of contact for so long. The end of April I attended a Quilt Retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Oh, it was so nice!
Once we returned home I was busy making quilt tops for a new book by Donna at Fabric Cafe which was followed by more top piecing.
I have made some progress, but have also fallen behind on a few of them. See my post about all my current projects – Click Here. So here’s my progress on my 5 (not so current) Projects.
Project #1 – Scrap Dance Pachanga/Mystery QAL (Queen Size Quilt)
I’m using my DD to help assemble the 84 Blocks needed for my Queen Top. Since this is scrappy it is more of a challenge for me. We have the pieces for the blocks on a table in the living room and we play solitaire fitting the scrappy units together. Once we’re happy with how they look, I take them back to the sewing room to piece the blocks.
We have all 42 Block A’s made and are working on assembling 42 of Block B’s.
Project #2 – Quilt of Valor #A-12/Mystery QAL (Large Throw Size Quilt)
I can say this QAL is completed! I worked on the final blocks and assembly during the April Quilt Retreat. I have found backing fabric and hopefully will get this pieced soon and sent off to a long arm quilter to quilt.
It was nice to have the large tables set up to lay out the diagonal rows and keep them straight while stitching the top together.
Project #3 – Harmony, 2021 Hand Pieced QAL (28″ Square Wall Hanging)
I’m done! Well I have finished the Blocks/Unit that I planned on making and will link up with the final group to share my piece.
But finishing it, I decided it really did need borders. Since borders are not a part of the original QAL, I can call this a Finish.
I will probably add 2 borders – first will be a gold, but not sure of the 2nd. This may end up a UFO (Unfinished Object) until I get around adding backing and quilting it.
Project #4 – 9 Patch Rows QAL (Queen Size Quilt)
No Progress. The QAL has posted the final clue for assembling the Rows. I have printed the patterns and hope to work on this during July & August.
Project #5 – 2021 My Hometown BOM (63″ Square Quilt)
No Progress. I have printed the patterns for Blocks 4 & 5, but haven’t even looked at fabric. Hopefully work will pick up on this project in July.
Other Sewing Accomplished –
I did a couple of quickie projects. It’s nice to have some things actually finished.
Miscellaneous Sewing –
I made a few items as a going away present for our daughter’s friend. Using some scrap Batik fabric I made a small drawstring bag, a cosmetic bag, a glasses case and a travel tissue cover.
Fabric Cafe Tops:
Most of my time during May & June has been working on tops for Fabric Cafe. Often the tops I make for Fabric Cafe are either with sample fabrics that haven’t been received yet, or testing new patterns which haven’t been released yet. That means I’m sewing secret tops that cannot be shared. I have to wait. l will write a post about them soon.
My week is busy, but I hope to get back to making progress on the remaining 3 projects.
Hope you are making progress on whatever you are stitching this week!
Happy Stitching!

I’m glad you showed the layout view of Dakota as I was having trouble figuring out what each bock was. Nice effect, alternating colors and block patterns.
