My attempt to get my stitching mojo back, has run into a major road block. To paraphrase – The best-laid plans of (QuiltMouse) and men often go awry. The beginning of the month I shared a list of projects I wanted to accomplish in October including the One Monthly Goal. The month began fairly productive, but then our world turned upside down and we are now trying to find our new normal for the coming months.
Here it is, my (ambitious) list of projects for October and what got accomplished in the first 10 days.
OMG for October – I was hoping to bind and label the Choo Choo Quilt. It did return from the Long-Arm Quilter (Beautiful!), but due to circumstances beyond my control I was not able to touch this project. 😦
UFO Challenge for October – UFO #3 – Didn’t get touched –
This is a quilt I started & then made some mistakes making the backing. I may not get it completely done, but my goal is to get it at least quilted. It is just a throw size so I will be quilting it on my domestic machine. I don’t do any fancy stitching, so I will have to figure out what I will do. Any suggestions on what colored thread I should use?
Project Linus Mystery Quilt Challenge – The first week of the month I was able to keep up with this Challenge. I was able to do the blocks for September 30, October 7, but since then I’ve barely been home, let alone in my sewing space. I’m downloading the patterns, and watching the other participants with anticipation to the time that I will be able to work on my two quilts.
Binding – Binding – Binding – See this stack of quilts? They are still waiting for attention.
They all need binding and labels made so they can be gifted. They are quilted and some of them even have binding already half on. So this month, I hope to complete binding & adding labels to at least one quilt each week.
Batik Scrappy Quilt – Will try to work on this during next month. It is a good project for catching a few minutes to sew.
I’m going to try and dedicate at least 2 whole days to work on this.
Autumn Jubilee with Carole on her blog From My Carolina Home Other than organizing my fabric, ordering some additional background fabric and matching fabric for pillowcases, I haven’t sewn on this. It will be on my to-do list next year.-
I had fun last year following several of her quick, fun projects to celebrate the beginning of Fall with a lot of very nice prizes. (Opps! The Autumn Jubilee starts today! The sewing part starts on Friday.) She will start on Friday, October 6 and continue every Friday during October. She has sewing/quilting, stamping/carding and wool craft projects that shouldn’t take long to make. I only do the sewing/quilting projects and we don’t know what they will be. My goal is to try and keep up on several projects.
Halloween Stitching – Nope, not done either.
Not exactly sure what I want to do. So being a bit vague and we’ll see what develops! LOL!!
Due to the twist in one member of our family’s health, both my sewing and blogging will be scarce, if any, for a while. I’ll try to grab a few minutes here and then once we discover our “new normal.” It just appears that 2017 is not meant to be a sewing year.
