As many of my readers know, I make samples for Fabric Cafe. Sometimes the samples are proofing/testing new patterns. It can be several months between the time I make the samples and the time the pattern or book is released. It’s so hard to keep a secret!
Donna’s newest book of 8 patterns has now been released and I can share the pictures of the ones I made.
Landslide – 42″ x 60″
Donna picked three brightly colored Kaffe Fassett Fabrics which were a dream to use.
The finished quilt top really highlights the Banana Leaves fabric in the large blocks and the blue bubbles and stripe fabrics pop in the half square triangles (HSTs). Tip: It did require a bit of concentration to make all the stripes in the HSTs go in the same direction.
Oh My Stars! – 41″ x 59″
Like many of her patterns, Oh My Stars! uses strip piecing to make the blocks go quickly.
This looks very nice in Patriotic fabrics.
Wandering Way – 42″ x 60″
This pattern is an example of using two simple blocks to create what looks like a complicated pattern, but isn’t. Using strip piecing and squares a simple 4-patch is created for Block #1.
Again strip piecing is used to create units when combined make Block #2.
When these two blocks are combined, they make a striking pattern. At first glance the individual blocks are not visible to the casual viewer.
Each pattern includes instructions for a generous throw which uses only 1 yard each of three fabrics. There are also instructions how to enlarge to a Twin (using 2 yards of three fabrics) or Queen/King size, which uses 4 yards each of three fabrics. In addition to the three I made there are 5 more patterns.
- Ashford Square – 42 X 60 inches (106.68 X 152.4 cm)
- Big Blooms – 43 X 59 inches (109.22 X 149.86 cm)

You can watch a YouTube video of Donna reviewing the patterns/quilts included in this book.
Check out these new patterns. They work up quickly and make very nice quilts.
Hope this gives you some inspiration to get some stitching done this week.
Happy Stitching!
